NORTH OF NOTH SEASON 2 - A LOVELY CHAT WITH STAR ANNA LAMBE
/The hit series North of North is now in it’s second seasonand no one is more excited than the series star, Anna Lambe.
When it comes to breakout talents reshaping the Canadian television landscape, few actors command the screen quite like Anna Lambe. With a magnetic presence and a remarkable gift for breathing fierce authenticity into complex characters, Lambe has quickly become one of the most exciting performers to watch. Now, following the massive critical acclaim of her previous work, she returns to the spotlight for the eagerly anticipated second season of the hit series North of North.
Stepping back into this rich, emotionally charged world, Lambe continues to captivate audiences with her nuanced storytelling and profound connection to the material. Season 2 promises higher stakes, deeper character exploration, and the signature grit and heart that made the show an instant favorite. But what goes into bringing such a dynamic narrative to life? How does an actor navigate the shifting emotional arcs of a sophomore season while keeping their character grounded in absolute truth?
Audiences around the world will discover more of Nunavut’s breathtaking Arctic landscapes and close-knit communities. And this season, things even take a little detour to Toronto.
As winter closes in on Ice Cove in Season 2, young Inuk mother Siaja (Anna Lambe) is still making bold decisions and even bolder mistakes in her effort to level up her life and prove she's ready to take charge.
The season takes us back to Iqaluit, Apex and new territory with the Qikiqtaaluk Region, alongside select scenes filmed in Toronto. From sweeping tundra landscapes to community gathering spaces and local businesses, Season 2 offers another glimpse into the real places that bring the fictional community of Ice Cove to life.
In Iqaluit, viewers may recognize the Unikkaarvik Visitor Centre, which returns as the Community Centre where Siaja works, and the Yellow Submarine, an inactive terminal at the local airport which takes on several roles throughout the season, including a health centre, jail and airport. The city’s dramatic natural surroundings in the Qikiqtaaluk Region are also featured prominently, with Sylvia Grinnell Territorial Park providing the backdrop for snowmobile rides and a game of hide-and-seek. Over in Apex, Rotary Club Day Park becomes the site of Alistair’s new cabin, while the Abe Okpik Community Hall returns as the Elders Hall. And in Toronto, the DoubleTree by Hilton Toronto Downtown and The Vatican Gift Shop appear in Episode 6, as Siaja ventures beyond Ice Cove for a night out.
I spoke with Anna Lambe about the evolution of her character, and the unique camaraderie on set that makes filming this series so special.
