One day in the near future Jake Gyllenhaal will have to make some room at his home for an Academy Award. After seeing his last few performances and knowing the discipline and devotion he's put into his roles, I am convinced that he is on his way to becoming an Oscar winner. Last year we saw him in Nightcrawler as a psychotic ambulance chasing cameraman and now he takes the punches in Southpaw as a prizefighting boxer who loses everything and rises from his deepest despair to live life to the fullest once again. 

Sandra Bullock is tired of always being  thought of as sweet and nice. As a matter of fact, she can be an outright bitch (her words, not mine) and she proves it with her latest role in, Minions. She voices the villain Scarlet Overkill in the film spun off from the Despicable Me franchise.  This is the also the first time Bullock has provided a voice for an animated movie, an experience she says that took a little getting used to. 

After seven seasons of playing the affable sweater wearing teacher Mr, Schue on the hit TV series Glee, Matthew Morrison knew it was time to get back to his roots. The veteran Broadway performer leaped at the chance to play J.M. Barrie  in the Tony nominated Musical, Finding Neverland based on the movie of the same name which starred Johnny Depp.  

Despite the massive success of the animated hits Despicable Me and Despicable Me 2, directors Kyle Balda and Pierre Coffin did not immediately jump at making a movie about the Minions.  It took some convincing and the realization that the Minions  were stars in their own right for the directors to reunite to make a film about the genesis of those lovable gibberish-speaking yellow guys. The animated film follows the little yellow organisms as they set out to find a new super-villain to worship, eventually discovering Scarlet Overkill (voiced by Sandra Bullock).

From the brilliant mind of creator, writer, director and actor Seth MacFarlane everyone's favourite foul-mouthed Teddy is back after scoring at the box office three years ago with the highest grossing R rated film in history.

Adam Scott is one of those laid back, humble actors who doesn't take anything for granted. He’s one of those guys that when you say his name you may not be entirely familiar, but as soon as you see his face you definitely know you’ve seen him in something. I became a huge fan of Adam Scott’s after being introduced to his hilarious cable TV series, Party Down about an offbeat catering company. That series also starred Jane Lynch and LIzzy Caplan and it was where Scott began to really hone his comedic chops. However, having been in the business for over twenty years people didn't really start noticing his talents until he hit the big time as one of the stars of the popular television series, Parks and Recreation opposite Amy Poehler.

James Ford Murphy may not be a household name, but he is someone you will be hearing a lot about. Inside Out is Pixar’s next highly anticipated release, but it’s also paired with a brand new Pixar short film that’s a must see, James Ford Murphy's directorial debut called, Lava.  The eye catching short feature focuses on a lonely volcano out in the middle of the sea who’s just looking for someone to love, or rather, lava.  And it’s no wonder Pixar Chief John Lasseter went with the idea when Murphy pitched him. The seven-minute piece, is extremely moving and the song is quite catchy, too.

We all know Phyllis Smith from her role as Phyllis Vance in the hit television series The Office. After starring on that show for nine successful seasons, the 63-year old actress honestly didn't know what her next move would be after the show ended. However, one fateful day she got a phone call from PIXAR animation studios saying they wanted to talk to her about a potential role in their next film and the rest as they say, is history.

When writer/director Rick Famuyiwa started to shop his comedy Dope, about a high school senior’s crazy mission to escape the confines of his Inglewood, California urban neighborhood for the Ivy league walls of Harvard the major studios, didn’t get it. So Famuyiwa and producers Forest Whitaker and Nina Yang Bongiovi, who were behind 2013 indie hit Fruitvale Station, made Dope their way, outside the studio system. 

Movie star Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier), together with his boys Eric (Kevin Connolly), Turtle (Jerry Ferrara), and Johnny Drama (Kevin Dillon), are back - and back in business with super agent-turned-studio head Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven).

Be afraid, be very afraid. Insidious Chapter 3, is a supernatural horror film written and directed by Leigh Whannell in his directorial debut. It is a prequel to the first two films and the third installment in the Insidious film series. The film stars Dermot Mulroney and Stefanie Scott, with Angus Sampson, Whannell, and Lin Shaye reprising their roles from the previous films.

Tomorrowland is one of the most anticipated movies of the summer, but people are still a little confused as to what it's actually about.  The new Disney live-action feature directed by Brad Bird and co-writer Damon Lindelof, Tomorrowland has long been shrouded in mystery. The film, which hits theaters on May 22, shares its name with the Disney Parks section featuring beloved attractions like Space Mountain and the Carousel of Progress.

The Mad Max master has returned and he is back with a vengence. Director George Miller, who thirty years ago first introduced movie going audiences to road warrior Mad Max (Mel Gibson) has brought us back to the post apocalyptic world with, Mad Max:Fury Road. Co-written, produced and directed by Miller directed, this is  the fourth film of Miller's Mad Max franchise.  Fury Road stars Tom Hardy as "Mad" Max Rockatansky, making it also the first Mad Max film not to feature Mel Gibson in the title role. The film also stars Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult.
