Cineplex Events will be celebrating the life of musical legend Prince with a special screening of the musician’s iconic film, Purple Rain. Screenings will take place on the evening of Monday, May 2 and tickets, which are now on sale, are $6.99.

Moviegoers who see Disneynature’s new True Life Adventure film “Born in China” during its opening week in Spring 2017 will benefit World Wildlife Fund (WWF). Based on opening-week attendance, Disneynature, via the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund, will make a contribution to WWF to help protect wild pandas and snow leopards in China.

Some fantastic documentaries are coming your way!                                                                             Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival announced its full film line-up for the upcoming 23rd edition, April 28–May 8, at a press conference this morning at the Bloor Hot Docs Cinema in Toronto. From 2,735 film submissions, this year’s slate will present 232 titles from 51 countries in 12 screening programs, with work by female filmmakers representing close to 40% of the 2016 program.

To get you in the mood Disney has just released brand new  pictures featuring the cast pairing the actors with their onscreen character.  This updated version of the classic animated film is directed by Jon Favreau (Iron man) and focuses on all the characters we’ve come to know and love.

It was a star-studded night at the 21st annual Critics Choice Awards on Sunday night in Santa Monica.  

Stars of both television and film were honored with praise and trophies but it was a clean sweep for director George Miller and his action film Mad Max: Fury Road.

The Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) and Broadcast Television Journalists Association (BTJA) have announced the nominees for The 21st Annual Critics’ Choice Awards.  The winners will be revealed live at the star-studded Critics’ Choice Awards gala, which will be broadcast from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica on A&E, Lifetime and LMN on Sunday, January 17 at 8PM ET/ 5PM PT immediately following “Critics’ Choice Red Carpet Live” on A&E at 7PM ET/4PM PT.  Actor and comedian T.J. Miller will serve as the show’s host. 

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has released its finalists for the Best Documentary Feature Oscar.

Toronto has been blessed with The Force!! As excitement continues to build for the highly anticipated seventh installment in the “Star Wars” saga, fans will have the opportunity to get a first look at some of the new characters from Lucasfilm’s upcoming, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” when Star Wars: The Force Awakens – The Toronto Exhibit opens in downtown Toronto for a limited 16-day run on December 5th.  

A Star Wars fanatic's dream!!  Today Facebook  announced that they’re rolling out 360-degree videos in News Feeds.There are a number of publishers sharing new 360 videos on Facebook today, including Star Wars, Discovery, GoPro,  NBC's Saturday Night Live and Vice. These videos help show the range of possibilities with this new medium. For example, Disney and Lucasfilm are debuting an exclusive 360 experience from its upcoming movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens, bringing fans inside the beloved Star Wars universe.
